Abstract

This study was carried out to assess the levels of surface water pollution at different pig-farms in Van Giang and Khoai Chau district, Hung Yen province. Surface water samples were collected five times from February to December 2010 with a two-month interval. The results show that all surfacewater samples at these pig-farms were serious contamination such as the average concentrations of COD, NH4+ and PO43- was higher than the National technical regulation on surface-water quality of Vietnam, and the average concentrations of DO were very low. Levels of surface-water pollution depend on typology of these farms. The highest surface water pollution was in the farms livestockgarden + pig raising (CV + C), lower than in the farm integrated Garden-pond-pig raising (VAC) and poorest in the farms with Pig-raising - garden (CA). The difference levels of surface-water pollution due to pig raising densities and components of these pig-farms.
