Land Suitablity Evaluation and Recommendations on Cropping Pattern of Cu Pui Region in Krong Bong District, Dak Lak Province

Abstract

Cu Pui region is located in the East of the Krong Bong district of Daklak province. This region has tropical monsoon climate suitable for growing of annual crops. The total area is 17,426.84 hectares, of which 98.25 percent are acrisols - prevailing soil types for cultivation in the region. In order raise crop yields and improve the present living status of local farmers, we have conducted a cropping system survey and land suitability evaluation. The results of this study showed that there are 31 land mapping units and 12 soil types. The land suitability evaluation provided scientific basis for cropping pattern in the investigated region, especially in sloping land crops farming and soil improvement practices
