Defining the Demand for Establishing the Cam Bu Certification Trademark in Huong Son District, Ha Tinh Province

Abstract

Huong Son district, located in the northwest of Ha Tinh province has been well-know with a special and valuable fruit tree namely Cam Bu. This orange spicy has been in the list of preserved gene fruit tree by Ministry of Agriculture. However, this fruit-tree has faced difficulties in production and marketing such as unstable market channels, fluctuated prices and long distant to main market. In addition, Cam Bu certification trademark has not established yet, so there were Cam Bu mixed products, Cam Bu counterfeits have been still sold in the markets. This study is to define demand for establishing the Cam Bu certification trademark. Thence, we will propose mechanisms to assist establishment the Cam Bu certification trademark positively, expand market and ensure the property right. Sixty households at 3 production scales were surveyed and analyzed. Contingent Valuation Method was applied to define the demand by assessing the willingness to pay of farmers for establishing the Cam Bu certification trademark. A demand curve describing the willingness to pay of households has been constructed. We also calculated all amount from contribution of fruit farmers every year. Finally, we proposed several solutions to the establishment of the Cam Bu certification trademark
