Determining Compressed Nitrogen Rate for Rice in Thai Binh and Hung Yen Provinces

  • Nguyễn Thị Lan

Abstract

Three experiments were conducted at Kien Xuong district in Thai Binh province and two districts (An Thi and Tien Lu) in Hung Yen province to study the effect of compressed nitrogen (N) fertilizer levels on the growth, development, leaf area index and yield on rice cultivar N46 in spring & autumn cropping season in 2007. The levels of compressed nitrogen were 0, 30, 60, 90 and 120 kg per hectare with a fixed base of 10 tons FYM + 90 kg P2O5 + 90 kg K2O per hectare. Increase of compressed nitrogen fertilizer levels promoted the growth characters viz., leaf area index (LAI), and increased yield components, grain yield and number of effective tillers. However, N fertilizer applied at the rate of 90 kg N per hectare gave highest grain yield: 6.72 tons per ha in An Thi; 5.71 tons per ha in Tien Lu and 5.62 tons per ha in Thai Binh (α = 5%). However the highest efficiency of N fertilizer was obtained in the treatment of  60 kg N per ha
