Characteristics of Natural Land Resources and Current Land Use in M’Drăk District, Dăk Lăk Province

Abstract
M'Drak, a mountainous district located in the east of Dak Lak province has a total land area of 133,682 ha, accounting for 10,18% of Dak Lak provincial land. The district has eleven communes and a town. Study on characteristics of natural land resources showed that M'Drak district has 8,953 ha Ferralsols of good fertility suitable for crop cultivation, including coffee and rubber, accounting for 6.7% of total M'Drak district' natural land. By using statistical analysis and Participatory Rural Appraisal M'Drak district's land could be classified into 6 soil groups with 9 land use types. Based on results of land evaluation, agricultural land use planning up to 2010 and beyond was proposed
