Conceptual metaphor "woman is flower" in Kieu story by Nguyen Du, a comparision with the translation by Michael Counsell

Abstract

   Studying conceptual metaphor is recognised a new research tiend m linguistics, which is originated by Lakoff and Johnson in Metaphor we live by. From the lmguistics viewpoint, the paper expects to study how the concept of WOMAN is mapped and what is the metaphorical structure of this concept through the woman' desciption in Kieu Story by Nguyen Du. By doing this, the paper hopes to depict the women destiny in feudal time and know more about Nguyen Du's modem writing style.
